Psychotherapy And
Counselling
WHAT IS IT?
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy explores distressing feelings, thoughts, and behaviours and help eliminate or control them so you can function better. For those with long term issues, psychotherapy is a more helpful solution.
Psychotherapy is a more in depth process that can explore issues such as traumatic life experiences, unhelpful patterns of behaviour, repetitive feelings or relationships that interfere with living a more productive and healthy life.
The aim is to resolve past and underlying issues that fuel the ongoing issues. It helps to understand self and change patterns of behaviour that can disturb relationships.
Psychotherapy can be short-term dealing with immediate issues, or long-term dealing with longstanding and complex issues.
It is important to remember that everyone is different and so is the length and intensity of their sessions . Some people need therapy every week for a couple of months then change to once a month for a while with the odd extra session in between.
Psychotherapy is a broader term for a group of therapies that use psychological methods to help individual to change and overcome problems.
